Ingredients

Creamy, chocolatey iced Mocha Peppermint Chilled Cocoa beverages bring the festive flavour of the holidays to summer! This recipe easily doubles for a larger crowd. Garnish with crushed peppermint candies, shaved chocolate or a pinch of cinnamon.

  • 3 oz (90 g) 70% cocao bittersweet chocolate, finely chopped
  • 1/3 cup (75 mL) dark brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp (30 mL) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 cups (500 mL) 2% milk, divided
  • 1 cup (250 mL) brewed coffee, chilled
  • ½ tsp (2 mL) peppermint extract (or more to taste)
  • Whipped cream (optional)

Preparation

In a saucepan, whisk together chocolate, sugar and cocoa powder with 1 cup (250 mL) of the milk in a saucepan.

Set over medium low heat and heat whisking occasionally for about 2 minutes or until smooth and melted. Remove from heat and slowly whisk in remaining milk and coffee. Stir in peppermint extract. Pour into a pitcher and refrigerate until cold.

Pour over ice and garnish with whipped cream, if desired.
