CMC 2023

The Canadian Musculoskeletal Conference (CMC) hosted by Osteoporosis Canada is November 23 and 24, 2023. Led by national and international experts in osteoporosis, this dynamic conference will offer an advanced medical education program and is intended for general physicians and specialists as well as allied health professionals.

Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a dialog of specialized issues relating to the upcoming newly released Clinical Practice Guideline on osteoporosis, thereby adding to their optimal management of this disease.  We will also be offering a half day devoted to the Young Investigators with a focus on patient involvement with research.

Recordings of the sessions will be available for viewing 48 hrs after the conference day has ended for registered attendees (virtual and in-person) and will remain accessible on the platform for up to 3 months after the conference.

This one-credit-per-hour Group Learning program meets the certification criteria of the College of Family Physicians of Canada and has been certified by Continuing Professional Development, Temerty Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto for up to 4.0 Mainpro+ credits.

This event is an Accredited Group Learning Activity (Section 1) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification Program of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, approved by Continuing Professional Development, Temerty Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto. You may claim a maximum of 4.0 hours (credits are automatically calculated).

Refunds will not be granted. All ticket purchases are final. 

Registrations are not transferable.

Osteoporosis Canada (OC) reserves the right to cancel this event. Registrants will be notified at the earliest possible date in the event of a cancellation. Registration fees for events cancelled by Osteoporosis Canada will be refunded; however, OC will not be liable for any loss, damages or other expenses that such cancellations may cause.

  • Must include Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion sections
  • Only completed or preliminary data – no methods description
  • All reporting guidelines to be used (PRISMA, STROBE, CONSORT etc.)

* You may submit a previous abstract/poster presented at another conference

 Poster Presentations

  • Abstracts and posters will be judged by mentors
  • 2-minute poster presentations to be given during judging sessions

Awards

  • Top abstract receives $500 award from Osteoporosis Canada and the opportunity to give a 5 minute presentation based on YI Day poster at the CMC on Nov. 24th

KEYNOTE SPEAKER: Dr. Nicholas Harvey

Nicholas Harvey, MA MB BChir PhD FRCP FAOP FASBMR, trained in medicine at the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge. He is Professor of Rheumatology and Clinical Epidemiology at the University of Southampton and Director of the University’s MRC Lifecourse Epidemiology Centre, where he leads a programmatic structure investigating the lifecourse epidemiology, determinants and underlying mechanisms of common chronic noncommunicable musculoskeletal disorders of ageing, principally osteoporosis, sarcopenia and osteoarthritis, to inform novel preventive and therapeutic interventions.

Dr. Harvey is Chair of the International Osteoporosis Foundation Committee of Scientific Advisors; a Board Member of the European Society for Clinical and Economic Aspects of Osteoporosis, Osteoarthritis and Musculoskeletal Diseases; a former Trustee of the UK Royal Osteoporosis Society (ROS) and was inaugural Vice-Chair of the ROS Osteoporosis and Bone Research Academy. He is a Fellow of the Association of Physicians of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and of the American Society for Bone and Mineral Research (ASBMR).

Dr. Harvey has won many national/international prizes, most recently the International Osteoporosis Foundation Olof Johnell Science Award. He has published over 400 articles, has accrued>£50m grant funding and is a member of many national/ international committees, including as Musculoskeletal Lead for the UK Biobank Imaging Study, as a member of the UK National Osteoporosis Guideline Group Advisory Committee, as a past member of the ASBMR Professional Practice Committee, and as clinical co-chair of the 2021 ASBMR Annual Meeting.
