Joint HCCC (Health Charities Coalition of Canada) call on the 44th Parliament with a letter to commit to the following:

1. Engage patients in healthcare system recovery and enhancement
2. Ensure every Canadian has timely access to care
3. Expand Canadians’ access to medications
4. Fund vital health research in Canada
   
   

HCCC members also urged Parliamentarians to reflect on the critical role that health charities in Canada play, not only in shaping the policy environment affecting our healthcare system, but also in delivering direct patient supports. The latter has never been truer than since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, and yet health charities as a sector are struggling due to the economic impacts of the pandemic. According to a Nanos poll done in 2020, four out of five Canadians say health charities play an important or somewhat important role in Canada’s health care system. With financial and regulatory supports from the federal government, members of the Health Charities Coalition of Canada can continue to be strong partners to governments in ensuring that every Canadian can live their healthiest life.

Joint HCCC (Health Charities Coalition of Canada) letter to the federal government requesting all high-risk and vulnerable populations were prioritized for early access to COVID-19 vaccines under current provincial and territorial immunization strategies ahead of the general population as well as in ensuring that National Advisory Committee on Immunization (NACI) updated the list of underlying conditions based on the latest evidence available.

The federal budget date has been set for April 19, 2021 and Osteoporosis Canada is asking you, members of our community, to reach out to your Member of Parliament/Policy Staff and help amplify the message – include the HCCC proposal for urgent support of the health charitable sector in the upcoming federal budget.
