Event Coordinators – Vancouver & Lower Mainland, BC

Summary of Role

Twice each summer, Township 7 Winery invites Osteoporosis Canada to be the charity of choice for their Art in the Vines craft markets in Langley BC.  More than 300 people attend each Art in the Vines, drawn by the picturesque setting, the hand-crafted creations of more than 25 local artisans, and Township 7’s award winning wines. As the charity of choice, Osteoporosis Canada has the unique opportunity to raise awareness of the importance of good bone health with the many guests who attend.

Your role as Osteoporosis Canada’s volunteer event coordinator will be to lead a team of volunteers to take on all aspects of Osteoporosis Canada’s participation in Art in the Vines. This includes liaising with winery staff, establishing and overseeing the day’s program and activities, recruiting and scheduling volunteers, identifying and assembling materials to be included in Osteoporosis Canada’s booth, and managing the budget, including expenses and income from donations and raffle(s). Training will be provided by Osteoporosis Canada.

Hours and Commitment:

  • Osteoporosis Canada training
  • Approximately 25 hours over 4 months leading up to the event (remote)
  • Approximately 8 hours the day of each event (onsite)

Requirements:

  • You must be over the age of 19
  • You must hold a valid drivers license and have access to a vehicle
  • Adhere to dress code (Osteoporosis Canada name tag and T-Shirt provided by OC)
  • You must be able to attend both event days: Sunday, June 23rd and Sunday, August 25th, 2024

Volunteer Role and Responsibility:

  • Plan Osteoporosis Canada’s booth and coordinate with volunteers before, during, and after the events
  • Ensure the privacy and safety of participants and volunteers
  • Act as a representative and ambassador for Osteoporosis Canada and report to OC staff
  • Maintain communications with Township7 winery
  • Provide general information about Osteoporosis Canada to patrons at the event
  • Thank patrons for coming as they leave the event
  • Thank all volunteers, Township 7 staff, and vendors for their support

Accordingly, all staff, volunteers and visitors will be required to provide one of the following prior to entry of OC national office or locations where OC business in conducted:

  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccine administration as per the following requirements: proof of all required doses of a COVID-19 vaccine approved by Health Canada prior to 14 days of the employee’s return to office (two doses) or
  • Written proof of a medical reason or other human rights reason the person cannot be vaccinated. Where proof of a medical reason is applicable it must be provided by either a physician or nurse practitioner and must set out:
    • That the person cannot be vaccinated against COVID-19; and
    • The effective time period for the medical reason (i.e. Permanent or time-limited).
