Chair and Vice-Chair for Youth Advisory Council 

  • To integrate the youth perspective in developing youth and young adult targeted osteoporosis education 

  • To develop the foundation of the council, with OC staff support 

Summary of Role

Osteoporosis Canada is implementing a youth advisory council (YAC) to integrate the youth perspective and target primary prevention of osteoporosis by educating youth and young adults about the importance of bone health. The YAC aims to gather future champions of Osteoporosis Canada. 

Through targeted awareness campaigns, engaging community events, inspiring patient stories, and fostering collaboration with other members of Osteoporosis Canada, YAC plans to develop understanding and support from youth for individuals with Osteoporosis. 

The chair and vice chair will direct the group in developing initiatives to meet the goals of the council. With the support of OC staff, the chair and vice chair will develop the initial foundation of the committee, including the recruitment of executive members. 

The position term will be 2 years. Osteoporosis Canada training will be provided for successful candidates. 

This position requires approximately 5 hours of time commitment per month

 We are looking for candidates who demonstrate leadership, initiative, community engagement, and creativity. 

REQUIREMENTS

We are currently recruiting young adults aged 18-30 from a background in health for the chair and vice chair positions.

Accordingly, all staff, volunteers and visitors will be required to provide one of the following prior to entry of OC national office or locations where OC business in conducted:

  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccine administration as per the following requirements: proof of all required doses of a COVID-19 vaccine approved by Health Canada prior to 14 days of the employee’s return to office (two doses) or
  • Written proof of a medical reason or other human rights reason the person cannot be vaccinated. Where proof of a medical reason is applicable it must be provided by either a physician or nurse practitioner and must set out:
    • That the person cannot be vaccinated against COVID-19; and
    • The effective time period for the medical reason (i.e. Permanent or time-limited).
