The World Health Organization (WHO) has established the Bone Health Experts Working Group (BOHEG) as part of its broader efforts to strengthen global action on bone health. 

Dr. Famida Jiwa, President and CEO of Osteoporosis Canada has been invited to join this newly established group in recognition of her expertise and leadership in the field and is the only Canadian to be part of the group. 

As a member, Dr. Jiwa would contribute technical guidance to WHO’s work on interventions for preventing fractures and building investment case for fracture preventions, and related research priorities. 

Founded in 1948, WHO is the United Nations agency that connects nations, partners and people to promote health, keep the world safe and serve the vulnerable.

 WHO leads global efforts to expand universal health coverage. The organization directs and coordinates the world’s response to health emergencies in addition to promoting healthier lives – from pregnancy care through old age. The WHO’s Triple Billion targets outline an ambitious plan for the world to achieve good health for all using science-based policies and programmes.
